Does anyone have recommendations for selecting a gear indicator for the 2013 Storm?

TIA

Gearingo. Developed by a forum member specifically for Triumph:
A few units on some LT's/Commanders did not work properly, but no bad reports from T-Bird/Storm owners at all.
Some differences in ECU or gear position sensor.
Any Gearingo owners want to chime in?

I've never understood the need for a gear indicator. Tachometer, shiftlight - I get it - but gear indicator? Why?

A gear indicator is definitely a cool farkle but I'm with DM on this. Engine revving high, shift up; engine revving low, shift down. Keep doing that until you hold speed or the shift lever doesn't go any further. Coming to a stop, progressively shift down until it doesn't go any further. Don't really need to know the number.

I do remember a time when I was counting gear shifts on my Bird but after you get to know your engine's sound and feel real well, you should be able to just focus on when and in what direction to shift smoothly and eventually it becomes second nature and you're barely aware of shifting at all.

And then one day you get to where you're going and you're not even sure how you got there!
Or where you got that tattoo.

Also when travelling approximately 70 mph @ 3000 rpm, you're in 6th gear (50 size tire).

some people put tassels on levers, exotic paint jobs etc. all things not needed but we do it anyway
I drive trucks for a living so gears and revs are nothing to me but I wanted it so I bought it

From my experience with my MT09 which has the gear indicator, it is most useful in the middle gears. Particularly coming into a familiar corner where you know the right gear for the corner. You can easily punch down gears to the right one without counting or going to low and locking up the back wheel.

I sometimes wonder what I"ll do when I grow up.... but not very often

Don't understand locking the back wheel...I listen to revs and see rpm, all's good. But whatever works for you.

Had one installed early on and would be one of the first additions on any future bikes.

the item arrived today. I put it on and ran it through the gears. It fits very nicely on the bars just below my Tom Tom GPS.

I know, I know; who wants a GPS on a motorcycle? Me.

I like to rev match down shifting, except into first.
It improved my skills, I love it

Gearingos are back, at least in limited numbers for now.
I am told that the issue for LT's has been resolved.
I have four 1" units for T-Bird & Storm.
Unfortunately, the introductory price is no more... after all it was "introductory"
The new units are $149 shipped in USA and $174 USD to UK/Aus/NZ. Price includes shipping. Still less expensive than GIPro.

I have one of the originals left in great shape. It's one of the first units made and has been on my T-Bird (which was used as a test bed for the Gearingos).
The only limitation is that it must be mounted below the handlebar. It does not have the flipable feature. Since I added the fairing to my bike and gauges are up higher, it makes more sense that the Gearingo is also raised up over the handlebars. $100 in USA & $115 UK/Aus/NZ. Price includes shipping.

I'm reluctant to put them back on Jack-Be-Quick.com until I can get them in higher numbers which Frank tells me is forthcoming.
PM me with interest. 1st come 1st served. I can send a Paypal invoice.
Bob

I remember talking about this in the past and how, even if ya did have a gear indicator, you'd still be searching for the next gear.Well,my new ride just so happens to have a gear indicator and guess what??? Like I said in the past, even though I know I have a gear indicator, and am lookin right at it,I'm STILL searching for the next gear.lol lol And I've already caught myself doing this a number of times AGAIN even though I'm lookin right at it while goin down the road. Dave!!!

Hey VA
I have a gear indicator, but maybe I could be persuaded to buy one of yours. I would like to see it. Whilst in Vermont and no rain I will check it out. Hope we all can make it to Bennington.
